To protect the integrity of music discovery on PlaylistFeed and ensure legal compliance with Spotify’s Terms of Service, payola and spam are strictly prohibited.
This article explains what qualifies as payola or spam and what actions may result in account restrictions or bans.
What Is Payola?
Payola is the practice of accepting money, gifts, or other incentives in exchange for playlist placement.
You may not:
- Charge money for playlist spots
- Offer guaranteed placements after receiving a submission request
- Accept tips, gift cards, or indirect payments in exchange for consideration
- Ask users to buy anything to be considered for your playlist
- Offer “review fees” or “priority spots” tied to guaranteed outcomes
Even if you say placement is “not guaranteed,” charging for submission access or reviews violates PlaylistFeed’s policies.
What Is Allowed?
- You can accept submission requests for free
- You can add tracks based solely on quality and fit
- You can offer free feedback, if it’s not tied to payment or expectations
- You can promote your playlists and gain followers organically
What Is Spam?
Spam includes any low-effort or disruptive behavior that clutters the platform or misleads users.
You may not:
- Send the same copy-paste message to multiple users
- Submit music that does not match the playlist’s genre or mood
- Leave comments with self-promotion, links, or irrelevant text
- Use fake profiles, blank bios, or AI-generated accounts
- Submit to every curator without reading their description
Repeated violations may result in throttled access, request limits, or account suspension.
How We Enforce This
- All reports are reviewed by our moderation team
- Accounts engaging in payola or spam may be suspended or permanently banned
- Serious violations may result in blacklist from future features, verification, or exposure
